The first objective of the workshop was to present the results of Lyon’s LEAD Living Lab pilot activities, and to receive impartial feedback from the audience, namely about positive aspects, difficulties encountered, what could have been done differently, and replication potential.
The second objective was to present the digital twin developed by IRT SystemX and receive feedback on the relevance of its indicators and scenarios to be modelled, and the interest for stakeholders such as local policymakers or logistics operators.
The last objective was to collect thoughts from participants on replication and designing the next Urban Consolidation Centre in the Lyon Confluence district.
The workshop included a round table discussion, presentations on the LEAD project and specifically its Digital Twin in Lyon Confluence, and two parallel round tables to get a vision from participants on the uses and combinations of uses for tomorrow and strategies for decarbonising urban logistics.
The workshop provided an opportunity for members of the VAD network and other professionals in the logistics field to exchange ideas and offer feedback. The organisers expressed their satisfaction with the success of the workshop and the active participation of the attendees.
The heterogeneous profiles of the participants – architects, delivery companies, logistics operators, real estate developers, etc. – made it possible to define the strong points of the LEAD project, for both the operational part and the digital twin. Although very innovative for most of the participants, the digital twin aroused a strong interest and there was a lot of feedback and discussion on the interests of the digital twin, the relevant scenarios to be modelled, or the identification of other data sources to perfect the model. On the operational side, the discussions validated the interest of the pilot and provided initial answers to the technical, legal, and economic problems of building and managing a new consolidation centre.
This workshop, therefore, made it possible to effectively launch the replication and scaling-up phase of the LEAD project. The workshop’s outcomes are expected to contribute to the development of sustainable logistics solutions in the Lyon region, beyond LEAD’s implementation.
