Digital Twins are one among many digital solutions to promote sustainability in a wide array of sectors (from manufacturing to mobility and urban freight transport, among many more.
The European Commission launched the Living-in.eu movement to share experience among cities, work with standard-based, interoperable and re-usable solutions. The initiative is a great opportunity to explore how an urban digital twin can support your city’s green/sustainability ambitions
The backbone of the movement is a pollical declaration, currently with over 80 signatories, highlighting the importance of digital solutions to tackle a growing range of interconnected challenges, with a common European vision in which digital tools can promote smart urban mobility, energy efficiency, civic-led governance, among other dimensions.

Within the scope of the initiative, cities and regions will have the opportunity to tap into possible funding through the new Multiannual Financial Framework and the Next Generation EU/Recovery and Resilience Facility. Additionally, cities may also benefit from a forthcoming Coordination and Support Action, to build cities’ capacity to create their Digital Twin, under the Digital Europe Programme (Work Programme 2021-22).
